Career Summary |
In 14 seasons of international rugby Fergus Slattery captained Ireland 17 times and set a new world record for a flanker with 61 tests. He was also a notably successful Lion, being a member of the squad that toured New Zealand in 1971 and an ever present in the test team that beat South Africa on the invincible tour three years later. He was one of the try-scorers when the Barbarians defeated the All Blacks in the famous match at Cardiff Arms Park in 1973. |
