Career Summary
|
The young Queenslander, nicknamed Noddy, made his debut against Fiji in June 1984 before playing in every one of Australia's wins over the Home Unions, equalling the Australian point records in an individual match against Scotland with 21 - a record he would break in his next match six months later.
Lynagh was the complete fly-half and is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest ever No.10's. He went on to win 72 caps for Australia, including playing a key role in Australia's victorious 1991 World Cup campaign, and captained the Wallabies on 15 occasions. |
|
Greatest Moment |
During the 1987 World Cup, he became the leading points record scorer of all-time when he beat the record of Scotland's Andy Irvine. He would go on to score 911 points - a benchmark that would remain until the 1999 World Cup when Wales' Neil Jenkins surpassed it.
