RULES FOR ELECTION TO THE INTERNATIONAL RUGBY HALL OF FAME.

AUTHORISATION

By authorisation of the Board of Directors of Global Rugby Enterprises Limited, the Trustees of The International Rugby Hall Of Fame Trust are authorised to hold elections for the purpose of electing members to The International Rugby Hall Of Fame, from the ranks of retired international Rugby players and personalities.

ELECTORS

The International Rugby Hall Of Fame Trust is a New Zealand registered charitable trust.  Only its duly appointed Board of Trustees (made up of representatives from every major Rugby nation) are eligible to vote.  Under the terms of The International Rugby Hall Of Fame Trust Deed, there shall be a minimum of ten (10) Trustees and a maximum of twenty (20) Trustees.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

For eligibility, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1.

Players must have been retired from international rugby for at least twelve (12) months at the time of nomination.

2.

Players whose careers began after 1900 must have played Rugby at international level.

3.

Administrators, managers, coaches, referees or other internationally recognised personalities of the game may be considered for their overall contribution to the game.

4.

In the case of the death of an active player, or the death of a player who has been retired for less than twelve (12) months, and who is otherwise eligible, that candidate shall be eligible at the time of the next election, immediately following the date of death.

5.

Any player, administrator, manager, coach, referee or other personality who, in the view of the Trustees, has brought the game into disrepute, shall not be eligible as a candidate.

6.

Any player, administrator, manager, coach, referee or other personality, who has been elected to the International Rugby Hall Of Fame, and who in the view of the Trustees subsequently brings the game and/or The International Rugby Hall of Fame into disrepute, can be expelled at the discretion of the Trustees.

METHOD OF ELECTION

1.

A Screening Committee consisting of selected international Rugby writers and commentators will be appointed by The International Rugby Hall Of Fame Trust.

2.

The duty of the Screening Committee shall be to prepare a Ballot Listing of no more than twenty-five (25) eligible candidates.

3.

Each Trustee shall vote for no more than ten (10) eligible candidates deemed worthy of election.

4.

Any candidate receiving votes on seventy-five percent (75%) or more of the ballots cast by the Trustees, shall be elected to membership of The International Rugby Hall Of Fame.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Consideration shall be given, by both the Screening Committee and the Trustees, to the individuals overall record and career, encompassing such factors as playing ability, sportsmanship, commitment, character, personal integrity, and personal contribution to their team, their country and the game of Rugby, as played in their time.
