Career Summary

A product of Australian Schools and Australia Under-21, he won his first cap in 1989 in the immediate aftermath of the Wallabies’ defeat against the British Isles. Came on the first of several tours to Europe in the autumn of 1989 and scored two tries in the first test against France in Strasbourg. In 1992 he played for the World XV in celebration tests against New Zealand. Gained World Cup winners’ medals in 1991 and 1999. Retired from international rugby in 2000 and joined Saracens in 2000-01. At the end of that season played for the Barbarians against Scotland and Wales.

Greatest Moment

Winning the World Cup for the second time and being voted Player of the Tournament in the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

Interesting Facts

Only Tim and John Eales played in Australia’s World Cup winning teams of 1991 and 1999. Tim also played in the 1995 tournament.
